Registration for the annual Congregational Retreat at Montreat, October 8-10, is DUE August 2^nd at the church. Your payment and registration form reserve your spot.

 Andrea Garrett and her “track team of runners, joggers, walkers and cheer leaders” have been working to bring life to 1 Corinthians 9:24-27...“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I will not be disqualified for the prize.”

 

Friday evening will start with a Fun Run of fellowship in Reynolds Lodge. On Saturday morning, track coach Rob Watkins and others will lead us as we prepare for the race with a marathon of meditation so we will run the race as Christians.  In the afternoon, we will have a bye (free time) and a catered dinner with more fun to follow, led by sprinter Elaine Lea. Sunday morning worship will convene at the winners’ circle for communion. (Disclaimer: none of the events above require running shoes, only your presence.)

 

The program committee is working on activities that will extend the theme in a variety of ways for all ages and all abilities. The committee has exciting ideas that will fill the weekend with laughter, learning and love. Brock Daniels and Jason Maynard are working on bringing “racing” music to Montreat.

 

Mark October 8-10 on your calendar. Fill out the registration and be ready for a spirit-filled weekend in a spirit-filled place. Leaving the cares of home and “retreating to Montreat”, you will find the renewal of friendships, rejuvenation of your spirit and revival to the Covenant community. Do not miss this year’s church retreat at Montreat!! Get your registration form and payment in by August 2.
