Opportunities for Adults:

The Covenant Choir:  The Covenant Choir leads music during 11 a.m. worship each Sunday, as well as for other special services and events during the year.  Our purpose is to glorify God and to communicate the message of God’s love and providence through our song.

The repertoire of the Covenant Choir spans all genres and eras.  The choir prepares major works for worship each Christmas and springtime.  Recently performed works include:  Vivaldi’s Gloria, Christmas music by Stephen Paulus, various works based on familiar hymn-tunes, Schubert’s Mass in G, and David H. Williams’ Three Lenten Scenes.

Membership is open to any interested high-school age youth through adult, and members are required to attend weekly rehearsals held on Wednesdays from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.  In addition, we gather to warm-up for 11:00 a.m. worship on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. during the year.  Rehearsals focus on preparing anthems for service, learning and using proper vocal and choral technique, and honing the skills of good musicianship.

Celebration Ringers:  An energetic and dedicated team of 13 handbell players, this group of advanced ringers meets weekly to prepare music for worship throughout the year.  Each February, the group attends a workshop on handbell playing at Lutheridge, in Arden , North Carolina .  Contact Jason Maynard if interested in membership.

JuBELLation Ringers:   This handbell ensemble, directed by Kaye Petkas, concentrates on teaching the basic techniques and elements of artistry involved in playing handbells.  The group meets on Sundays at 4 p.m.  New members are encouraged!  Contact Jason Maynard or Kaye Petkas for more information.

The Ensembells:  A small ensemble consisting of four handbell ringers meets regularly to work on music for a smaller group.  Techniques are studied and practiced to address the challenges encountered by music of this type.

Opportunities for Youth:

Youth Choir: The Youth Choir is open to any youth grades 6 – 12. Meeting at 4 p.m. on Sundays, preceding dinner and Youth Fellowship, this small, talented group of young singers works to prepare works for service, both on their own and with Youth Combo and the Covenant Choir. The youth combine regularly with youth choirs from area churches to sing significant choral pieces for worship.

Youth Combo: Youth Combo welcomes youth grades 6 – 12 who are interested in hand drumming and other percussion techniques or guitar. During the program year, the group rehearses at 4 p.m. on Sundays. Rehearsals end with a time of joint practice with the Youth Choir.

Opportunities for Children:

Creation Singers and Creation Ringers: Children in grades two through five may be part of these groups for young people who are developing their music skills. Encouraging a love of music is a top priority. Both groups meet on Wednesday nights as part of the fellowship program. At 6:15 p.m, immediately after dinner, Creation Ringers gathers to work with handchimes and handbells. After ringing and a brief recreation period, Creation Singers meet at 7 p.m. Their program ends at 7:25 p.m.

Little Angels Choir: The Little Angels Choir is for our youngest singers, preschool through first grade. They meet during the Wednesday night fellowship time, after dinner and a recreation time. They enjoy singing, playing instruments, dancing and learning about music.
