PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
From Hope To Deborah
The members of the Presbyterian Women Circle formerly known as Hope Circle will be called by a different name this year. We will be called the Deborah Circle. The story of Deborah is found in the Old Testament book of Judges. Deborah was a strong leader and prophet. The people of Israel went to her in matters of justice. (Judges 4:5) Deborah was sure of her faith in God. She relayed God’s message to Barak to regain Canaan through battle. Barak would only agree to battle if Deborah accompanied them. Deborah went with them saying, "Charge! This very day God has given you victory over Sisera. Isn’t God marching before you?" (Judges 4:14 from The Message)
On April 1, 2006 Covenant Presbyterian Church lost a Deborah. She was also a strong leader and sure of her faith in God, willing to accompany many of us through our trials. Deb saw great value in attending circle meetings. She encouraged all women to join and share the Light of Christ with each other. Renaming our circle the Deborah Circle allows us to honor two strong women of faith. It will be a comforting reminder of all the life and energy Deb Kircher gave to our community of Presbyterian Women. We would ask that women of the church prayerfully consider joining the Deborah Circle this year. We meet the last Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor. We hope to see you there!
