Stewardship 2027

Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Our annual stewardship campaign is underway and will culminate with Dedication Sunday on November 8, 2026. This is a time in the life of our congregation where we celebrate our call to be stewards of all that God has given us. We refocus and rededicate the ways that we spend our time and talents, both together and individually. We also make financial commitment to Covenant so that we can fund our ministry for another year.

This year, our theme is Many Calls: One Calling. We are asking member of the congregation to share their many calls within the congregation, which you can do at this link. Responses are listed below, and we would invite you to read them all.

On October 26, we mailed this letter [link to be added] to the congregation. If you have not received one, then please contact the church office. Included in that letter is a call sheet [link to be added], which you may fill out and bring to worship on November 8.

We asked the congregation the following questions: "What is a meaningful way that you are called to worship and/or serve at Covenant Presbyterian Church? Why is it meaningful?"

  • Teaching Preschool Sunday School because it allows me the opportunity to get to know the children and interact with them. The children are a blessing to our congregation! --Susan Monk

  • I value singing in the choir, ringing handbells, and serving communion. I think these activities help to connect us to the sacred and add something to the worship experience. I also value serving in my role as treasurer and on the Sustainability Ministry Team. I think we are called to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us, which to my mind is all of creation. I think a small but meaningful part of this stewardship is working alongside others to ensure that we are financially sound and properly staffed so that we can go about our work. --Aubrey Moore

  • The music program (choir and handbells). The members are a source of support for me personally and a meaningful way for me to participate in worship. --Diane Griffin

  • Being a part of PW-Joining in fellowship and mission with other women in the church as well as the denomination. --Angela Hobby

  • I prepare the Children Worship Bags each Sunday morning. It is a small task but an important one that allows our children and their parents to be involved in worship. --Lola Bell

  • I feel called to serve on the AV team. I’ve had a career in television production, and it is something I feel strongly about using your talents for the benefit of others. I know how important this outreach ministry is for our members and friends who aren’t able to attend in person. We’ve also had viewers in different cities watch our worship services regularly. When members are out of town, they are still able to worship with their Covenant family...I believe we are called to spread the word using a wide variety of methods and our online worship services are an excellent way of spreading God’s word. --Steve Bell

  • At this point, I think it's being a member of the "corporate memory committee" along with other members who've been here many years. I realized the other day that I've been a member here half my life! We've been through a lot of history in that time. Combined with the newer folks who bring fresh ideas, I think we have a true recipe for success. --Debbie van Tuyll

  • Service on Sustainability; because stewardship matters to the Lord. --Hubert van Tuyll

  • I currently serve as an Elder, Usher, and Liturgist. I feel called to serve as an Elder to help guide our church and reflect our mission statement and God's Word in all that we do. I feel called as an usher and a liturgist to be involved with worship and help make worship a meaningful and engaging experience for myself and others in the congregation. --Dalton Cooper

  • I sing in the choir and that is a way to worship and serve at Covenant. It is meaningful for a couple of reasons. Lyn Patterson often said that "Music opens the door to the sacred", and I am in whole-hearted agreement with this. Communal singing glorifies God, is beautiful in its own right, and brings joy. The choir leads all of this. We come along side everyone and help them to confidently lift their voices in praise. Together we enter the presence of God through song. --Chris Terry

  • Since associating with the Congregants of CPC, I have felt a calling of engagement to the Church, its members/attendees, and our community. The Church’s mantra of Hospitality, Compassion, and Inclusiveness has become a Cornerstone of how I try to lead my life. --Jimmy Carson

  • I feel called to make this church home and welcoming for others to do the same. It can't be fully mine if I limit my contribution to attendance...bearing witness to the work of the church. Beyond a call to serve, I experience the "work" (or service, if you like) as the worship. --Angel Stewart

  • Bringing food for Gap has been meaningful for me and grounds me every time I'm at the store. I've also enjoyed helping with the Emmaus class. That class is very special to me, so it has invigorated me and my faith. --Kadie Cheeks

  • I provide meals and food as service, and it is a wonderful meaningful form of physical service. Above this, I feel I have been called and guided to serve in the Emmaus Sunday School. My learning and growth in Scripture, Church family, and especially Fellowship has opened so many doors of faith learning and sharing that I feel incredible spiritual growth. This is what’s meaningful. --David Ross

  • Coordinating the provision of meals at times of need and helping with building and grounds issues. I believe both support the body of the church. --Jeff Heck

  • Green Team support. Physically engaging nature can be therapeutic, energizing, and immediately satisfying. --Joslyn Fields

  • I feel called to serve by sharing my musical abilities and knowledge with the congregation. Music has always been an important part of my life, and I've always enjoyed the performance aspect of music as well as sharing my knowledge with others. --Beau Southwell

  • Called to be present, to listen to others — a calling that is meaningful to me because it's something I can continue to do even when physical limitations prevent me from participating in other ways. --Stu Ritter

  • Communion because it is powerful reminder of the grace we have all been freely given. --Susan Monk

  • Other ways include contributing to the music ministry with my harp playing and working with the education ministry. --Debbie van Tuyll

We are grateful for these faithful responses to our question, and for the many faithful response given by those who opted not to have their responses shared with the wider community.
